Stephen
Keshi has blasted former Nigerian players, who were quick to criticize
his team after they drew 0-0 with Iran in their first World Cup game in
Brazil.
The Super Eagles bounced back with a 1-0 win over
Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday night, which put them in pole position to
qualify. But Keshi had harsh words for some ex-internationals, who he
feels should understand the game better as they played at the highest
level before.
“The annoying thing is that they get criticised
unnecessarily back home,” Keshi said at a press conference after the win
over Bosnia.
“When
that comes from the man on the street you can understand but when
people who should know like ex-footballers criticise the team, I don’t
enjoy it at all.
“But the players have showed that they are good enough for the World Cup but they are yet to play to full potential.”
