We at Flip Magazine took our time to look for interesting questions to ask, and yes we did it, Kindly keep calm and read the interview after the cut :)
Hi, Gidi Traffic, how are you today. We are Flip Magazine and you are?
I'm Giditraffic but friends call me GT, Nice to meet you... :)
1: What prompted GidiTraffic?
Basically Road traffic and a desire to create a remedy for the
menace.
2: When did you develop the idea?
Well
The idea came to me on an unpleasant afternoon when i ran into traffic
on what should have been a no-traffic day, going by the usual routine,
but apparently there was an accident that caused that anomaly. So i sat
in that traffic wishing i had gotten a heads-up on the road status
before venturing on it, and then it hit me. I created the platform on
the 23rd of September 2011, i think i was bored that evening :)
3: Congratulations on your Nokia Deal and the Lumia App, can u please
brief us on how that happened?
Thanks you. Well i stayed tweeting and offering my services on twitter when Nokia reached out to me, that's how it came to be.
During
the announcement of the Nokia/GIDITRAFFIC partnership, recall i said
Nokia and Giditraffic will do stuff that hadn't been done before, well
the GIDITRAFFIC Windows Phone App is one of such, check it out and confirm for yourself
4: is GidiTraffic handled by a team?
Actually
contrary to popular belief, @Gidi_Traffic is NOT handled by a team of
workers but just by me. Its really a herculean task but I'm committed to
the cause and that's what give me the zeal to keep up, though i take it
as a huge complement when people say its a group of people behind it.
5: Did you expect it to get such wide recognition
No,
i actually didn't. but about 2 months after inception i was getting
multiple on-line awards and shortly after, an international recognition
via a nomination at the Shorty Awards in NewYork for the 'Life Saving
Hero' category. Also an induction into the Charity Lounge 'Hall Of
Fame' for humanitarian services and most recently a Future Award for the
'Best Use Of New Media', All of which I'm most grateful to God for,
because i had no idea. I basically just wanted to offer a service to the
community and try to create a remedy for a societal menace.
6: What challenges have you faced?
Well i made Huge sacrifices to run with GIDITRAFFIC, Lets just say it had a reverse effect on my personal life
But in the end "The Needs Of The Many Outweigh Those Of The Few"
7: A Fan (@bountifuloption) tweeted this "what is d driving force for
@Gidi_Traffic, what is his gain and what is sustaining it till now" Any
answer for that?
Well i'll need an extra sheet to answer that :).
But
simply put, my driving force is the satisfaction i get knowing that
eveyr second i spend doing what i do is adding value and probably making
someone's life much better, nothing tops that for me and that's why i
do all it takes to keep the service running from my personal income.
8: Do you enter TweetJail? And how do you deal with that?
Oh Tweetjail?... The jailor is my Uncle's Aunty's Brother's friend, so I'm covered
9: What is your worst twitter moment?
I've never really had a 'worst' twitter moment, frankly don't know what that should be.
10: Is any close friend or relative aware of what you do?
Sure, A very few...
11: Please tell us one thing we don't know about you.
When i sneeze i close my eyes
12: And yes people are so confused about your gender. Can you tell us
your gender please?
Of course i Can tell you my gender
Thank you so much, what would u like to tell your twitter fans out
there?
Never stop doing good, because all Good deeds no matter how little gets rewarded, whether you believe it or not. Keep "Lending Each Other An Eye..." to make the world a better place. Peace -GT
We'll love to say a big Thank you to Gidi Traffic, You have been helpful to people out there, God bless you. And dear readers, kindly comment if you have any question to ask, and we might help you ask in our next interview.
