The
police in Delta State have arrested three suspects in conncection with
the robbery at a hotel in Asaba and the rape of a pregnant woman.
The Delta State Police
Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said on Friday that the
suspects were arrested by the GRA Division of the force, who were
alerted about the incident.
She said, “The robbers
attacked the hotel and robbed one Sunday Iduh of his handsets. The
hoodlums were said to have also raped a pregnant woman.
“Based on the report,
Detectives swung into action and arrested one Victor Uguagu, Ezekiel Ude
and Joseph Obiazor. The suspects have been identified by the victims.
Investigation is in progress.”
In another
development, Kalu said policemen attached to the B Division of the force
in Asaba received information that a notorious armed robbery gang
leader, Uche Agbo of Ezem Nsukka of Enugu State, who led a four-men
armed robbery gang to rob one Celestine Udenyi of No. 1 Elubuju close,
off Americana Street, Asaba two months ago was sighted in the town.
“Detectives swung into
action and arrested the said Uche Agbo after they had disarmed him of
one AK 47 rifle with Number TA 1485 without magazine.
“Item recovered from
him include one AK 47 rifle without magazine. Investigation is going on
while efforts are on to track down other members of the gang,” She said.
