Ghana Government sends $3m cash to players in Brazil

Ghana’s government has sent a plane carrying over $3m in cash to Brazil, to sort out the Black Stars’ appearance fees at the 2014 World Cup.
“The players insisted that they will want physical cash,” Deputy Sports Minister Joseph Yamin told Ghanaian radio station Citi FM.
“The government had to mobilise the money and a chartered flight to Brazil. The money is in excess of $3m.”
Earlier this week, there were stories of unrest in the team’s camp, with the players allegedly threatening to boycott training ahead of their last Group G match.
Ghana play Portugal on Thursday and they must beat Cristiano Ronaldo and co, or they face leaving the tournament early.
