City midfielder Yaya Toure, has said that winning the Premier League
title, will make up for the pain of losing the PFA Player of the Year
award to Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.Manuel Pellegrini’s men have taken advantage of the Red’s late slump, to haul themselves back into the driving seat in the title race.
Toure grabbed his 20th goal of the league campaign in the 4-0 hammering of Aston Villa on Wednesday and is confident they will finish the job against West Ham on Sunday.
“It was not only me who was in the running for the award and we have a number of players who have had excellent seasons.
“We definitely expect to win the title. As a top team, we expect to win it.”
If they clinch the title, it will be City’s second of the season, after they won the Capital One Cup. But the Ivorian powerhouse says that success is not enough for the club.
“The target is always to win something each season and for us, the League Cup is not enough,” he added.
“We’ve worked so hard this year and, if we don’t win, it will be a massive disappointment for us and for the fans as well. We need to see the job through.”
