Obasanjo did not ask us to join APC – Ogun PDP faction

APC-visit-OBJAs the crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, continues to deepen, a faction of the party loyal to former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has denied defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to the party members, the former President had not given them a nod to move to the APC.
The faction led by Chief Okanlawon Soboyede who met under the umbrella of the Ogun PDP Mainstream, stated this during a press conference held in the state yesterday.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the immediate past state chairman of the party, Chief Joju Fadairo, said his members still remain loyal to Obasanjo and would work towards the success of the party come 2015.
He said, “You would have heard that they said the mainstream people who are in Baba’s (Obasanjo) camp had gone to APC. We have not gone to APC.

“Baba did not tell us to go to APC. Baba is in PDP and we want to disabuse the minds of the people who are saying that Obasanjo’s supporters in the mainstream have gone to APC. That is the essence of this meeting.”
Some other chieftains of the Ogun PDP Mainstream that were present at the meeting were Chief Okanlawon Soboyede, Chief Wale Egunleti, Asiwaju Jide Awosedo, Asiwaju Tony Ojesina, Asiwaju Yemi Oluyomi, Engineer Tetede, Job Akintan and Abiodun Akovoyan.
