Onyeka Kingsley Raphael, 22, (pictured below) was found dead Saturday
morning at the bottom of a swimming pool in the home he worked as a
domestic servant. Kingsley’s lifeless body was removed from the pool
which is located at a house on Babatunde Asimi Street, Ogudu GRA.
His family is however suspecting foul play and have petitioned the police – they claimed that when Kingsley’s body was recovered by policemen from the Ogudu police
station, eye witnesses said there were no visible body injuries on the
corpse but a twisted neck; a sign that the domestic worker may have had
his neck snapped before being dumped into the pool.
Kingsley’s family also found it strange that dinner which the
deceased had apparently made for himself the previous night, was lying
cold on the kitchen table, with his cap beside it. The family also
claimed that Kingsley and his employer, a retired accountant named Tunde
Williams had a misunderstanding a month earlier which almost led to
Kingsley getting sacked.
Kingsley, who had wanted to quit the job was asked to hold on by his
elder brother because he needed the money for school. The security man
who was on duty at the time the incident is believed to have taken
place, said he didn’t see or hear anything.
The police
have promised a thorough investigation with a view to ascertaining
Kingsley’s cause of death. To achieve this aim, they have assured the
deceased’s family that an autopsy will be carried out.
Meanwhile, the police have revealed that Mr Williams has so far not cooperated with them in their investigations.
