Construction work at Ikeja Police Department poses risk to road users [PHOTO]

Vehicle owners and commuters have raised the alarm on the danger the heavy duty crane being used at the construction work going on at Area B Department of the Lagos Police Command poses to their lives.
They therefore call on the Police high authority and the contractors handling the project to ensure that the machine, that transports weighty bricks, does not create an avoidable accident.
A civil servant told DailyPost that he fears for his life and others whenever he is around the hanger.

According to him, the construction at Force Department located opposite the Police College on Mobolaji Bank, Anthony Way, Ikeja “should not scare the hell out of road users.”
“Look at how the bricks to be used are suspending in the air. I don’t have a problem with this, but when you carefully look at it, any mistake or carelessness may make these thing drop on passers-by.
“And it stays like this everyday. Can’t they move this side of the crane to hang above inside th compound instead of the road,” he quipped angrily.
Also speaking, a business woman attributed the development to non-monitoring of the construction by the project managers.

“You know Nigeria is a funny place. I drive through this route daily and I make sure I stay on the other lane as I approach here.

“It is when the damage has been done that people start sympathizing because I still don’t understand why they allow a crane holding bricks stretch to the road.”
Efforts to speak with the police spokesman in charge of B department were rebuffed by officers at the gate.
“If you want to speak with him, go and look for his number,” one of them arrogantly told our reporter.
