A
32-year-old man, Olowose Razak, has been remanded in prison by an Ebute
Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, for the alleged murder of one
Ejimofor Clifford.
The police said Razak killed the
deceased by hitting him with a plank on the head after a disagreement
led to a fight between the duo.
The incident was said to have happened in the Ojota area of the state.
The police added that although the
defendant confessed to committing the crime and an exhibit was recovered
from him, investigation was still ongoing on the matter.
The murder charge read, “That you,
Olowose Rasak, on October 12, 2013 at Victoria Street, Ojota, Lagos, in
the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Ejimofor
Clifford, aged 58 years, by hitting him with plank on his head and
thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the
Criminal Law f Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
The police prosecutor, Iyobosa Onaiwu,
applied for the remand of Razak in line with Section 264 of the
Administration of Criminal Justice, Lagos State, 2011, pending legal
advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
The magistrate, Mr. F.J Adefioye, granted the request, and remanded the defendant in the Ikoyi prison.
